It's my Step-Mom's birthday this week and I made this card for her.  She and my Dad are down in the Texas Gulf enjoying warm weather while we are cold here in Oklahoma.

This image is Rose of Sharon from Lockhart that I got as a Wish RAK from bottompish.  After using it, I loved it so much that I ordered it for myself.  I tried to be good really I did.  This card uses:

Stamps: Lockhart, Rose of Sharon & SU Teeny Tiny Wishes

My Favorite Bunny Slippers

This week I used the color challenge over at Splitcoaststampers for inspiration. The challenge was to use Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink and Rich Razzelberry. I substituted the Rich Razzelberry for Purely Pomegranate. I wanted to use one of my unused sets and decided on My Favorite Things, Who’s That Girl, Bunny Slippers. Here is what I came up with.

To get the patterned look on the robe, I inked up my Paisley Background stamp from SU and stamped Purely Pomegranate ink on Pretty in Pink cardstock.  Then I stamped the MFT Bunny Slippers image in Memento Tuzedo Black and paper pieced it over the full image.  I drew in the wood floor and the rest of the image was colored with Copic markers.  I added Purely Pomegranate, Chocolate Chip ribbon,  self adhesive rhinestones and stickles for a little bling.  The paisley patterned paper is Basic Gray and the white cardstock is Gina K Pure Luxury.

Since I had gotten this new (to me) stamp inky I wanted to make a few cards to have on hand. Here are a couple of varations.

Colors used are Chocolate Chip and DSP, Pretty in Pink and Pink Pirouette DSP.  White cardstock is Gina K Pure Luxury, embelishments are Stickles, Dew Drops, Rhinestones and Pima Flowers, colored with Copics.
Here are my last two with a different color theme, So Saffraon, Brocade Blue and Sara DSP.

The one on bottom is colored with Copics and the one on the top is paper pieced. The punches, brads, button, ribbon and hemp are all Stampin' Up.

Favorite card of 2010 so far!

Okay, if you haven't figured out that I am an animal lover, I will just let you know it here and now. I love love love animals! I love it when I can incorporate something that I love into a card for someone else that might not be as crazy about animals and it works. This is my favorite card I’ve made for 2010 so far. I used Splitcoast’s sketch challenge SC262 and an adorable RAK image that I got from cyber buddy SuperJen. This little pig image just made me smile when I saw it, but I didn’t know what I would use it for. I realized that I needed a birthday card, the day before a birthday and knew that it would not be received on time. I thought the little pig butt would just fit the bill as I am always just a little behind. Don’t know if anyone else thinks it’s funny but it made me and hubby both smile, so there.

Stamp: RAK image from SuperJen
Sentiment: printed from my computer
Ink: SU Pink Pirouette sponged around edges and Copic markers, N0, N2, RV00, RV02 & R20
Cardstock: SU Chocolate Chip and Pink Pirouette patterns
Accessories: Ribbon, SU Pink Pirouette; Felt Flowers, SU; Self adhesive rhinestones, Kaiser; Spellbinders Nestibilities Labels 8 and pop dots.

I am on a mission to start collecting animal backsides and come up with sentiments to go with them. I would love to hear any ideas or suggestions that you have!

Ride em Cowboy!

Here is my first card and challenge of 2010!  One of my New Year resolutions is to stamp at least once a week and  to use all my never before used stamps (be it old or new) at least once.  I participated in a Cards for Troops/Operation Write Home project and one of the challenges was to make western themed cards. *Gasp*  I didn't own a single western stamp and I live in Oklahoma!  Guess I'm still just a California girl at heart!  I haven't been able to get my hands on the extremly rare Stampin' Up set, Wild Wild West or Dream Catcher, I got Bronc Buster.  Not actually needing a specific card at the time, I turned to Splitcoast for inspiration.  I combined both sketch challenge SC261 and color challenge CC251 with the desert option of a charm, as well as my own personal challenge and came up with this manly wetern card. I made one card with the heavy thick charm and one without that would be suitable for mailing. Thanks so much for stopping by to look.

I'd love to hear your stamping or scrapping related resolutions!

(All Stampin' Up except charm from a stash  and Spellbinders Nestibilities)
Stamp: Bronc Buster
Ink: Basic Gray
Cardstock: Basic Gray, Really Rust, Barely Banana, Confetti white & Outlaw DSP
Accessories: brads, help twine and Nesties Circle & Label

Have a root-n-tooin day!

Last Kitty Christmas card

This card was just for fun  I wanted to do a card with 3 kitties on it to repesent our 3 kitties.  DH is such a rough, tough, manly man that I get so much pleasure teasing him that he is "kitty whipped" by our little girls.  I don't know what it is, but he just adores and spoiles them, although he won't admit that he even  likes them.

I would love to know what you and your pets do!  Do you give cards from or to the cats or dog?

Kitty Sabre's Christmas card

This is the baby, Sabre. She came from an animal rescue in Arkansas.  She is also an odd eyed cat, with one blue and one amber colored eye.  She is not a year old yet, but seems like she is the middle child as her personality is the perfect mix of both of the other cats.  She is very playful, yet snuggly.  Not vocal and talkative, but has the loudest purr. Not shy, but not fearless either. Not into everything, but not perfect.  She gets along well with both other cats and loves hubby and me both.

This is Sabre's Christmas card to Daddy.  I was worried about all three cats (well two of them at least) getting into the Christmas tree this year since they are still young, 2+, 1+ and 9 months, but they did great.  They were much more interested with the tree than the ornaments.  Just keep a spray bottle by the tree and after a few times getting sprayed, they stayed out.  Not one single ornament knocked off! What good girls!  Thanks for stopping by.
Stamp set: Clear Dollar Stamp, Meowy Christmas
Ink: Memento Tuzedo Black, Copic Markers
Cardstock: SU Really Red & Glorious Green, Gina K. Pure Luxury white and patterned paper is about a decade old from my stash.
Accessories:  SU grosgrain ribbon, Nestie scallop ovals

Kitty Piper's Christmas Card

This is Piper!  She is our middle kitty.  She was rescued from a kill shelter in Kansas and has some health issues.  She is the most beautiful kitty with 1 blue and 1 green eye, called an odd eyed cat.  She is part Siamese and is the most talkative and vocal kitty ever.  She was also raised with the dog, so she loves to play fetch, follows me from room to room and is a lil' snuggler, however she is very shy and timid and hides when other people are near.

Piper choose the sweet and adorable kitten in stocking from the Meowy Christmas set from CDS as she is very sweet and adorable herself, she is perfect and never gets into any trouble, really she is purrfect.

Stamp Set: Clear Dollar Stamps, Meowy Christmas
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Cardstock: Gina K Pure Luxury White, SU Brillant Blue and Bashfull Blue.  Patterned paper from my stash..
Accessories:  Oval Nesties, Hobby Lobby ribbon, snowflake punches are Martha Stewart (small) and Stampin' Up (large) Dazzling Diamonds glitter and rhinestones.

Kitty Pezz's Christmas card to Daddy

The kitties all gave Daddy special cat Christmas cards this year. I thought it was time to introduce my girls to everyone! This is our oldest kitty, Pezz. She was a ferral kitty that hubby found near the office when she was only a few weeks old. She was very tiny, but a fighter. She has the biggest personality and is fearless. She also does not act like a cat. Her first year, she was raised with our dog, a potbellied pig and a racoon. It wasn't until she was over a year old, she actually ever met another cat. She's a pretty lazy cat and a big daddy's girl!

Her card uses an image from a Clear Dollar Stamps set called Meowy Christmas. It has 3 different cat images so it was perfect for me as I have 3 cats. The cat in the stocking is perfect for Pezz becasue she loves to get into everything. Any bag, box, purse, drawer or etc. that she can squeeze into, she does! This particular image is so Pezz! This is first time that I had ordered from CDS and it was the week of Christmas, they got the order to me the same week the day before! WOW, I was really impressed. I also really love their stamps, especially all of the Patchpal Animals.

Thanks so much for looking!

Stamp Set: CDS, Meowy Christmas (unmounted clear)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black & Copic Markers
Cardstock: Gina K Pure Luxury White, SU Old Olive, Cranberry Crisp & DSP
Accessories: SU Cranberry Crisp ribbon, wavy edge scissors, oval Nesties

Christmas Card 2009

This is my Christmas card for 2009. I love non traditional colors on holiday cards. This year I knew I wanted to use black & white and a damask print. SU came out with this adorable single stamp, Dasher and I knew I had to use it. I used Sketch Challenge 244 from Splitcoast stampers for the layout. Thank for looking.
